Hey, it's Gary Tan. We're seeking a group partner at YC. This role involves much more than just advising; it requires empathy and support for startup founders. Whether they're first-timers or seasoned execs who've taken companies public, you'll need to adapt to help them effectively. YC is known for backing early-stage companies like Coinbase, Airbnb, and Stripe. Your role includes pairing up with applicants and guiding them through the batch, with weekly office hours at our campus. If you're interested in diving back into the startup world, we'd love to hear from you.

As a Group Partner at Y Combinator, you will serve as a key advisor and coach to startups in the YC program, guiding them through essential growth, operational, and product challenges. You’ll work closely with an assigned cohort, supporting founders in refining their strategies, achieving product-market fit, and preparing for investor presentations. This role is suited for a strategic thinker and seasoned founder or investor with hands-on experience building or scaling startups. You’ll have the chance to drive impact across multiple sectors and foster strong, supportive relationships with founders, enabling their success and helping them navigate the fast-paced, high-stakes startup environment.

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience as a founder, CEO, or executive in high-growth startups, or as a venture partner with substantial exposure to early-stage companies.
  • Proven ability to evaluate startups across diverse industries and guide them from ideation to growth stage.
  • Deep understanding of product-market fit, growth strategies, and operational scalability.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and communication skills with a focus on constructive feedback.
  • Extensive network within the tech and investment community, with the ability to connect founders to potential resources.
