About company

At Tender, we help families protect, organize and share essential information to improve their health and wealth. Whether its stepping in to help care for aging parents or in laws, equipping adult children with the information as they adult, or providing backup coverage for a spouse, Tender offers a smart care system to organize essential information, and prepare for important everyday scenarios and urgent ones across the full extended family.

Managing information across multiple family members can often feel like navigating a complex maze of decisions, tasks, and information. But it doesn't have to be that way. We're working to bridge the gap with technology. We aim to make the process smoother, so you can focus on the important part—being present with your loved ones. With Tender, we're not just providing tools, we're offering guidance, support, and a community to lean on, because the journey of caring for each other should be about love, not obstacles.

You will be joining an incredible team hailing from top tech companies and startups, such as Noom, Meta, Superhuman, Life360, Kindle, Vimeo, and beyond. We recently closed our Seed Round of funding with three VC firms, Overwater, Cake, and 1843, expanding our institutional investors to a total count of 6 (pre-seed included Hannah Grey, Laconia Capital, and Sequoia’s scout fund, as well as some amazing industry angels), and are building out the team. Come be part of the team that’s changing the way we care!

About the role

Many companies and agency recruiters focus on selling the vision and details of a role, like daily tasks and project types, during their outbound recruitment efforts. Hearing directly from a hiring manager about these aspects holds more weight than vague job descriptions with generic qualifications. This approach helps candidates understand the role more clearly and is a tactic increasingly used to attract talent.

We’re seeking an enthusiastic product-focused designer as one of our founding team members to lead our iOS app design. Reporting directly to the CEO, this role will be a vital part of the team responsible for building the product and brand experience for Tender.

You’ll play a meaningful role in shaping our product strategy, culture and values, and building out and leading the product design team. In this role, you'll not only meaningfully shape the app but also introduce best practices to Tender, help set the tone for our PD culture, hire and manage top talent and work across Tender leadership.

The goal for the next 6 months is to make Tender the trusted place for families to collect, organize and share their most essential information as a core subscription service.

You will be instrumental in this journey as the design leader. Here are some examples of projects that we will tackle over in the coming months to get there:

Take our product through the finish line and ensure the best experience reaches our users’ hands through edge case considerations and QA
  • Product Definition: Drive 0 → 1 product decisions with product and engineering based on user discovery and customer insights
  • Customer Obsession: You will be the voice our users! Be deeply attuned and empathetic to their needs, and to develop a robust understanding of their challenges and goals through interviews, usability tests, surveys, and more
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with product manager, engineering, and marketing to execute the vision and design. Coordinate and convey context across team members to ensure we’re meeting our key initiatives goals and timelines
  • Establish a Design Culture: Oversee and define product design principles, processes, and ways that we can up-level our product and brand experience while moving fast
  • Learn and Experiment: Rapidly iterate on designs and solutions so we can maximize learnings from our users
