We lead seed rounds in bold founders who use code to create transformational companies.
The position is based at our NYC headquarters in Soho, offering a unique opportunity to collaborate closely with our co-founder, Hadley Harris. We are looking for a team member with a balance of hustle, passion for learning, and exceptional organizational and communication skills — someone who is ready to play a key role in serving the founders we work with, as well as the broader startup community.
This role provides a front-row seat to the ins-and-outs of running a VC firm, and will involve all functions of venture capital including working with our portfolio companies, vetting inbound opportunities, conducting diligence, and firm management. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker who is organized, thoughtful and has sharp execution skills. We welcome those of diverse backgrounds to apply. Prior experience in analytical and strategic roles — investment banking, private equity, hedge fund, consulting, or experience at a high growth startup — are examples of profiles that we think would be a great fit for this role.
We expect this to be a 2-year position, which will give candidates an in-depth introduction to VC and critical exposure to all elements of the business.
The Chief of Staff will work closely with Hadley Harris on all aspects of venture capital, including:
Hadley is a co-founder and General Partner at Eniac Ventures, where his investment areas include AI (application and tooling layers), data/dev tooling, SaaS, and healthcare. He also takes the lead on developing the firm’s long-term strategy.
Before becoming a VC himself, Hadley built two successful, VC-backed startups. He joined Vlingo in 2007, working with talented AI founders out of MIT to manage aspects of the business across product, strategy, and marketing, until the company was sold to Nuance for $225M. He then became Chief Business Officer at Thumb, a real-time recommendation app that reached user engagement levels second only to Facebook and was ultimately acquired by YPulse.
He began his career as a developer and engineering team lead at Pegasystems, later taking on roles as a product manager at Microsoft and strategist at Samsung (where he realized that big company life isn’t for him).
Hadley grew up in downtown Boston, where he started his first company Beantown Odd Jobs at the age of 13 (ask him about the marketing campaign that involved fake parking tickets!). He now lives in New York City with his wife and sons, and outside the office, he enjoys yoga, meditation, mixing music, and beating Nihal in tennis.
