We are looking for a passionate Founding Data Scientist to join our team. In this role, you will play a critical part in helping Terminal and our customers deeply understand the large volume of data we ingest (years of high-frequency GPS + other related telematics data). You will translate business requirements into data science capabilities, build solutions to benchmark and improve data quality, support the development of our data platform, and support customers with data insights and analysis. Your work will be instrumental in making Terminal the leader in aggregating telematics data for risk and insight.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Translate customer and internal business requirements into data science capabilities
• Design methods to benchmark data quality across integrations, devices and fleets
• Develop statistical models to validate data quality and annotate anomalies for consumers
• Develop models and aggregations to support internal and external analytics use cases; collaborating with engineering to implement in production
• Research, develop and test models to predict fleet risk and safety from telematics data
• Design and implement data pipelines and infrastructure to support R&D and data analysis
• Enable objective decision making across the company by democratizing data through dashboards and other analytical tools
• Support customers developing telematics risk models by sharing best practices and insights from our data and research

QUALIFICATIONS

• 6+ years in data focused roles, including 3+ years as a full-time data scientist
• Proficiency with Python and working in a production coding environment
• End-to-end experience with data, including pipeline development, modelling, querying, aggregation, analysis, and visualization
• Excellent communication skills when conveying complex concepts to diverse audiences
• Preferred but not required: experience building data pipelines at TB-PB scale
• Preferred but not required: experience with telematics or other geo-temporal data
