About company

Mischief Capital is a seed-stage fund launched by four successful founders (Zach Perret, Lauren Farleigh, Dustin Moring, and Nate Abbott). We’re somewhat of an “anti-VC” — founders investing in founders, and helping them build and operate incredible companies.

About the role

Mischief is looking for a part-time principal to work with us on incubations. You’ll get to work closely with one of the Mischief founders build out the business plan for a small handful of ideas that we’ve been thinking about. Your role will be to dive deep into market diligence, talking to customers + partners, building out a financial model, and putting together a launch plan.

This role is great for anyone interested in becoming a founder or working for a very early-stage company. You’ll get to work closely with a highly experienced founder inside a seed-stage VC fund to develop a new idea. If the idea gets funded, you may also have the opportunity to join the new company on a full-time basis.

What we’re looking for:

  • Background with working with and around startups and innovators. The ideal background is someone that previously founded a startup or was an early employee. We’re also open to folks who have worked in VC or PE and have been close to the startup ecosystem.
  • Experience doing diligence (ex: cold calling experts, building industry relationships, utilizing expert networks, analyzing financials, site visits, etc.)
  • Familiarity with building financial models. You will be expected to help build a basic financial model for the incubation ideas.

Location:

Bay Area or remote. We’d love to get together with you once every week or two at our office in SF, but remote works too.

Time commitment:

The ideal candidate will be able to commit to 15-20 hours per week for at least 2-3 months.
