Openmart is a startup based in the San Francisco Bay Area, serving companies selling to small and medium-sized businesses. We provide a solution that helps sales teams easily find highly compatible SMB leads. With over 1M+ SMB data across the globe, we specialize in retail, e-commerce, and medical establishments.

Our team consists of engineers, sales execs, and product managers with experience from top organizations such as Berkeley, Cruise, Rice, and Pinterest. Our executives have deep expertise in the SaaS startup domain, having served as brand operators, first product managers, and first engineering hires at high-growth companies.

This is a full-time hybrid role as a Founding Backend Engineer at Openmart. As a Founding Engineer, you will be responsible for the day-to-day tasks of building and maintaining our product. You will work closely with the engineering, sales, and product teams to develop and implement new features, enhance existing functionality, and address technical challenges. This role is located in the San Francisco Bay Area with flexibility for some remote work.

Requirements are:

• Based in Bay Area or willing to relocate too
• Over 4 years of experience working with Python
• Over 2 years of experience in search engine technologies
• Familiar with large scale web scraping (5M+ web pages, anti-blocking, proxies)
• Has experience working in fast-growing companies/larger startups
• Also has had experience as a CTO or first several engineer hires at a startup
• Familiar with backend Python (FastAPI/Flask, Celery/RabbitMQ)
• Familiar with AI agents (Langchain, LlamaIndex)
• Familiar with non-OpenAI LLMs (Cohere, Anthropic)
