About the Role
As our first VP of Marketing, you'll be defining how the legal AI category is created and won. Your impact will be foundational and lasting. The best part? The product is great and customers are clamoring for it. We have clear, deep product-market fit, but we need a marketing leader to help us scale from $5M to $40M+ ARR while maintaining our product-led growth magic.
This role requires both visionary category leadership and hands-on execution. You're comfortable with the strategy of defining an entirely new market and the scrappiness of writing copy yourself when needed. You're a curious person who wants to dig into the details of how legal teams work, and you have strong opinions about modern marketing, AI, and building brands that enterprise buyers trust. You’ll shape how our product is understood, how our brand is experienced, and how legal teams adopt AI for the first time. You’ll have the runway to build the marketing org from scratch, define our category, and influence product direction in partnership with the CEO and CTO.
What You’ll Do
Strategic Brand & Category Leadership: Own and evolve our company narrative to position GC AI as the definitive legal AI solution. Define and dominate the category against both incumbents and general-purpose tools, establishing us as the trusted guide for in-house counsel.
Customer Marketing & Community: Turn customer love into referrals, case studies, and a flywheel of trust that drives enterprise deals
Demand & Growth Engine: Build scalable demand generation programs that drive qualified pipeline from $5M to $40M+ ARR. Balance PLG excellence with enterprise ABM, turning customer love into referrals, case studies, and revenue-driving community.
Product Marketing & Positioning: Drive launches, refine packaging and pricing, and translate complex technical capabilities into messaging that resonates with discerning legal buyers. Partner with sales on pipeline development and tracking.
Events & Thought Leadership: Lead our user conference and position the company at the center of legal and AI conversations. Build relationships with key industry analysts, media, and influencers.
Team Building: Hire and develop a lean, high-leverage team across brand, growth, and product marketing.
AI-Native Mindset: Implement modern, AI-native marketing operations with measurable ROI frameworks and data-driven decision making
What We’re Looking For
Minimum 7+ years of progressive marketing leadership experience with proven success scaling B2B companies from early stage to growth (ideally $5M to $40M+ ARR)
Experience taking a PLG product to enterprise without losing the PLG magic - you understand how to leverage product-led growth as an asset for enterprise deals
Experience building and developing a team of in-house marketing talent - and building a network of external contractors and agencies.
Strong product marketing background with experience driving launches and working closely with product teams
Excellent writer who's not afraid to write copy yourself - our founders care deeply about quality writing
AI fluent with demonstrated ability to articulate how AI has impacted your work and marketing approach
Experience building marketing operations, implementing modern tech stacks, and using metrics to drive decisions
Experience working closely with VC-backed founders and thrive in high-intensity environments.
