This role mirrors a chief of staff role: we'll tackle business issues together, and you'll have access to high-trust materials. We're moving fast, and I need someone smart to partner with me. 👋 Hi, we're so glad you're here. As an Associate Chief of Staff, you'll set the stage for how legal teams of the future work. In this role, you'll work directly with our founder and CEO, Cecilia Ziniti, as her Associate Chief of Staff. You'll learn the ins and outs of building a category-defining company. You'll be involved in strategic decisions, customer interactions, and critical projects. This will be a career accelerator for someone exceptional.

You'll join a small but mighty team of engineers, lawyers, marketers, and doers who are rethinking how legal work gets done. You'll have direct exposure to leading general counsels from unicorn and bluechip companies. It's a great role for those considering law school or careers in tech. Note: the CEO does have a separate EA, and they are amazing! 

What you'll do

  • Serving as the right-hand person and ‘extension’ of the CEO, managing internal and external stakeholders, providing strategic insights, and taking ownership of problems that don’t fit anywhere else.

  • Getting your hands dirty with administrative or even menial tasks as needed whenever the CEO or others need you to.

  • Thriving in uncertain conditions. Within the CEO’s priorities, take on and create projects that will impact the organization. Could be implementing an automation, driving a partnership, or working with the team to create customer event

  • Building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including investors, partners, and advisors.

  • Managing new initiatives, including our CEO’s media schedule, vendors, operations

  • Note: this role will work CEO hours - long and sometimes weekends.

You’ll need these qualifications

  • Graduated in the top 10% of your class from a top-25 university

  • Have exceptional writing and analytical skills

  • Are a self-starter who thrives in ambiguity

  • Are AI-native – you use ChatGPT, Perplexity, and other AI tools daily

  • Have demonstrated depth in an area you're passionate about - can be anything!

Compensation

  • The expected OTE (on-target earnings) range of compensation is $100,000 - $130,000, plus stock options we have every reason to think are going to the moon. We give candidates the ability to choose between equity and cash.

  • $10K relocation bonus to move to San Francisco where our founders are based

  2. From there, we will reach out if chosen to schedule a 30-minute phone interview with our founder and CEO, Cecilia Ziniti - most likely on a Friday afternoon PST or Sunday given her busy travel schedule

Question 1 (Written Answer):

Please submit a short answer (less than 600 words) to ONE of the following questions.

  • GC AI has successfully sold to 350+ in-house legal teams. Should we sell GC AI to law firms?

  • What things should GC AI do in order to successfully continue to drive adoption in both smaller and midmarket companies and large enterprises like the Fortune 500?

Analyze the opportunities, challenges and resource requirements and conclude with a recommendation. Show how you put together an argument, research public materials (pro tip: we have a 14 day free trial) and analyze. 

Question 2 (Video):
Please submit a short video presentation (<4 mins) teaching me something you're passionate about. It can be your favorite class, a side hustle, a random hobby, recipe, whatever is. We are looking for an exceptionally clear communicator who can stand in for me where needed.


I know it is a big ask, but not much more time than preparing for an interview. And it will give us a head start so that in the second round, we'll jump right to substance. 🙂
