About company

Ambience is developing the most capable AI systems for healthcare and medicine. As healthcare costs soar to 17.3% of US GDP and a projected shortage of 100,000 physicians within the next decade, the need for AI is critical. Our frontline healthcare workers are overwhelmed, with only 27% of the average clinician's day spent on direct patient care.

Our vision is to equip every healthcare worker with an advanced AI co-pilot. We believe that people, augmented by AI, will enable us to deliver higher quality healthcare at a lower cost, improving the experience for everyone involved.
Headquartered in San Francisco, we have secured $100M in funding from top investors, including Kleiner Perkins, OpenAI Startup Fund, Andreessen Horowitz, Optum Ventures, Human Capital, and Martin Ventures. We collaborate with leading AI experts such as Jeff Dean, Richard Socher, Pieter Abbeel, and AIX Ventures.

Join us in the endeavor of accelerating the path to safe & useful clinical super intelligence by becoming part of our community of problem solvers, technologists, clinicians, and innovators.

About the role

Hello! 👋 This audio submission is an optional — but highly encouraged — supplement to your application for the Clinical Sales Engineer role at Ambience.

Because this role is deeply interpersonal, we believe hearing from you directly brings your unique style and presence to life.

Before continuing here, please make sure you’ve submitted your full application via our Careers Page. This supplement won't be reviewed unless your formal application is in.

🎙️ What to Expect

You'll be asked to respond to four short prompts, each in under 2 minutes. These are designed to give us a sense of how you think, communicate, and connect with others — no need to over-rehearse or script.

Here are the prompts:

  1. How do you sell a skeptical patient on your treatment plan or advice?

  2. Imagine you're at dinner with a skeptical physician executive. What’s your go-to approach to break the ice and build rapport?

  3. Tell us about a time you helped close a deal (or win someone over) by getting creative. What was your strategy?

  4. Give us a mini ‘demo’ of anything you’re excited about — a hobby, product, or idea.

If you ever need to exit the application and pick up where you left off, simply close the window and pick up where you left off when you’re ready.

We’re excited to hear from you — your insights, energy, and personality matter here. Let us know what makes you you.

The Role

We’re hiring a Clinical Sales Engineer to help us win hearts and minds in the market—by bringing clinical credibility, storytelling magic, and a provider’s intuition into our sales conversations. You’ll act as a critical bridge between clinicians, sales, and product, demonstrating how Ambience improves real-world workflows, deepens impact, and builds trust. You’ll also bring a touch of fun and charm to every interaction.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead engaging, high-impact product demos for prospective customers (expect 10–20/month)

  • Be the clinical subject matter expert (SME) in sales cycles—able to speak the language of medicine fluently and authentically

  • Build meaningful relationships with providers, executives, and key clinical stakeholders

  • Strategize closely with account executives to win deals, influence decision-makers, and capture competitive intelligence

  • Run or support VIP pilot trials: onboarding, training, feedback gathering, and success reporting

  • Contribute clinical insight to product and go-to-market strategy conversations

  • Collaborate across teams: sales, product, customer implementation (CIS), and marketing

Who You Are

  • A provider: NP, PA, MD, or DO—bonus if you’ve got ER or hospitalist experience, or are still practicing in some capacity

  • Charismatic and curious: you’re magnetic on camera, warm in person, and great at making people feel seen

  • Equal parts educator, listener, and hype person—your superpower is knowing when to lead and when to follow

  • A relationship-builder: people want to tell you things because you make them feel safe and heard

  • A behind-the-scenes strategist: you thrive in the gray space, love cracking puzzles, and find creative ways to influence outcomes.

  • Extreme ownership: you're energized by the unknown and know when to drive and when to ask for input.

  • Someone with high EQ, humble confidence, and a sharp sense of humor — you take the work seriously, not yourself.

Bonus Points

  • You’re currently practicing, or have done so within the last 1–2 years — and you bring that clinical intuition into everything you do

  • You’re fluent in Epic workflows and configuration — extra points if you’ve trained others or supported rollouts

  • You’ve thrived in fast-paced environments, whether a health tech startup, ER, or similar “figure-it-out-fast” setting

  • You stay plugged into the broader clinical community — think: conferences, newsletters, group chats, and in-person gatherings
